Humanities Project Reflection
In humanities recently, ruby and I studied crime rates. It started out that we thought the whole class minus maxx was going to studied it, but we have given a whole group project a chance once in humanities, and it is now labeled the fail project. So me and ruby were against it, taelon and andrew were neutral, and Charmaine for up for the challenge. Funny how that was, because after a lot of debating, those turned out to be the groups. So we started out making the expectation document, which basically said we wanted to have a better understanding of crime rates in america. And I think we succeeded. But let me just say what we did. At first ruby and I was going ti make a news show, on crime rates, but that idea just got old. So ruby went to her mom for possible knowledge. And her mom gave us the great idea of doing a game show based on the 60’s game show, to tell the truth. This is where they bring three people to the show, all claiming to be one person, the judges ask all of them questions, and then determine who they think is the real person. What we did, is write a paragraph for each person to read, then had the judges guess who was who. I think the facts about crime rates were a little overwhelming for all the judges, just because there were so many numbers and things to look for. I think what we could have done is find things that obviously made one of the people out right away, then you had a fifty fifty chance instead of a thirty three point three three three repeating chance. I also thought that they were getting bored by the time we read a couple, so maybe next time adding more funny and ridiculous things, just to keep the audience alive. But I really did learn a lot from this. And I didn’t come away scared at all, because we are actually pretty low right now on crime rates, especially compared to the 90’s when they were ridiculously high. I thought we did a good job, we did something more creative, and we kept the facts in mind, so overall, I thought we did a pretty good job.
