School was only for the wealthy, and the boys. Boys who were born into poverty worked in the fields or learned a trade. The schools were located of the ziggurat courtyards. The children wrote with reeds that required a sharp end on clay tablets, the size of a post card. The writing that the Sumerians created and used was called cuneiform. When the cities were developed, it became difficult to keep track of everything in their heads. that was their reason for creating cuneiform. Once the children graduated, they became a scribe The ziggurat, the government, the army, or the palace employed him.
Although the women of Sumeria did not at ten the school, they actually had many rights.
