UCSD reflection
Today we went to the UCSD campus. We took a bus there and walked down. It was a really fun experience. When we fist got there we checked out their library hoping that it would have some books about things we were studying. And it did. In science class we are doing a project on the solar system and trying to understand just how big it is. We are doing a project where we each take a planet and using a ratio, shrink it down to compare to other planets and the distance around them. While we are doing that we also hoped to learn a little something about the planets history and some facts about that planet. The science library was 2 stories with the top floor for computer research and the bottom floor for all the books. It was so big. I ended up finding tons of new information about mercury, not only in writing but graphs and charts that I copied on to me notebook. Then we looked for books about the sumerians. I think that went so well I was just so exited. On the internet, sumerian facts tend to be questionable and less of, but at this library I found detailed descriptions of how their cities were laid out, the tools they used, and even some recipes! I was blown away. Then Lisa, parent of an Alumni, showed us her anthropology lab. It was so cool and she was so nice to take time out of her day to do that. I was amazed at the organization of brain slices and how well her friends wo worked wit her spoke. They knew exactly how to answer all of our questions personal and science. It was just overall a great experience. Some things we could have worked on when it came to the planning are probable planning the trip better. And by that I mean, having everybody bring their own money for the bus. Knowing that time we were to aim for, and having our plans laid out ahead of time. Even a general idea of our schedule for UCSD would be nice. And you know what. It’s totally partly my fact. If I had research and brought some facts to the table like some people (or one person) did, we would have had a much smoother time at the beginning and the end. But thats ok. I will do that next time. So, overall, I would love to come back there for other project that we are studying and wold love to visits the lab again.
