Skellig and "A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings" Comparison
I think that Skellig has a lot of similarities and a lot of differences with “A Very Old Man With Enourmous Wings”.In the beginning of the story things are very similar. Pelayo and Elisenda have a baby that is sick, and Michael also has a baby sister who is not well. Then Pelayo and Elisenda find a man with wings, so does Michael. But, they find him in very different places. Pelayo and Elisenda find him in their courtyard, a place where they can’t miss it . Michael finds him in a his forbidden garage. But, he, unlike Pelayo and Elisenda, had to go in a place that he was not allowed to go, to be able to find Skellig. Pelayo and Elisenda seem to be less calm then Michael when they find the man with wings. Also, the man with wings that Pelayo and Elisenda find is very older than Skellig. The man that Michael finds, Skellig, is actually very young.
Pelayo and Elisenda now tell a wise neighbor about the old man with wings and she comes to observe the man. She said right away that he was an angel . Michael also told a neighbor named Mina who he thought was smart about things. But, when he showed her Skellig, she didn’t know what he was. Pelayo and Elisenda tell the whole town about the old man and they come and see[in other words, they made the finding public]. But, Mina and Michael don’t tell a soul. They are really more interested in what he is that telling the world.
Also, Pelayo and Elisenda seem to not care as much as Mina and Michael and do not seem to do everything affectionately. Pelayo and Elisenda put him in a chicken coop and feed him leftovers. When, Mina and Michael move him out of the garage into a large house that Mina’s grandfather left her and have Skellig fed Chinese takeout. Also, Pelayo and Elisenda take advantage of the old man by making people pay to see him. But, in Mina and Michael’s case, they try to find out what he is and really try to help him and they seemed to put him before themselves. Another difference is that the story takes place in Columbia in Pelayo and Elisenda’s case. But, Mina and Michael live in England. Those are the similarities and differences that stand out most to me between Skellig and “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings”.
Papél Picado is seen on almost every offerenda in Dia de los Muertos. Papél picado is paper that is cut up with designs in it. They can be all different sizes with all different designs and colors. Some are very detailed, and some may be simple. You will always see them on almost all oferendas on Dia de los Muertos.
The word calacas means skulls in Spanish. On Dia de los Muertos there are skulls on every oferenda (or alter). No skull is ever sad. Every skull you see on Dia de los Muertos will have a smiley face. The skull is honoring a person that passed away and Dia de los Muertos is a time of celebration so there is no room for distress. That is what the word calacas means and how it is used in Dia de los Muertos.

I really enjoy microscopes. I thought it was really cool to see my hair up close. I liked that each persons has a different look to there hair. Some were straight and plain, some were texured, and others were very light. All of the things I saw were very interesting up close. I thought that the honeybee leg was really cool, as was the lily polen. It is amazing that something we have so much of can be such a useful tool. I am really glad we have access to these awesome tools.
The Milkquarious movie was made by Got Milk. They most likely made it so they could sell more milk. The tools of persuasion were humor[or they at least tried to be funny],pretty people, and strong people[I was not really convinced]. I actually thought it was really strange that the creepy guy was calling himself beautiful. If they are trying to say that if you drink milk then you will look like that guy did I am glad I don’t drink milk. As for the pretty person, I guess I can see how some people would be convinced, but I was not. I actually found the songs to extremely pointless and annoying. Their target audience was most likely younger people [12 and under], because when I was watching it my brother came to see and would not leave. The story that was not being told was probably that drinking milk does not make you pretty or strong. I was very confused as to what the point of this video was. I really did not get how a person could create this video and be able to show it to the pubic without some disgrace. I think this was a cheesy and overall annoying video.
